Reading City Football Club can tonight confirm that Michael ‘Butch’ Butcher has returned to his position as First Team Assistant Manager

"It’s been a weird week but after a few days of thinking, weighing things up I just didn’t want to leave. The club means a lot to me professionally and personally, and I realised my football future was with the Cityzens. Having called Lawsey (Martin Law, Club Chairman) and Simmy (Simon Johnson, First Team Manager), I am delighted to be back on board and cannot wait to get going again.
Chairman, Martin Law has issued the following statement regarding Michael Butcher returning:
"On behalf of the Club’s Board of Directors I would firstly like to thank everyone who applied to be the First Team Assistant Manager, following Michael resigning to take up a new opportunity. It’s been great to see so much interest from so many potential candidates, so you have my sincere thanks for taking an interest. Over the past week, we’ve been having multiple conversations behind the scenes and it soon became clear that Michael regretted his decision to leave. It is for that reason we are pleased to welcome him back to the club and pick up where we left off".
